The term flock coating is another commonly used synonym used to refer to the more renowned industrial processes flocking or velvet finishing. It is a process that consists in the total or partial application of a surface coating that gives a textured and visual aspect that is very similar to that of velvet.
Pama is specialised in 3D flocking of objects made from various materials (plastic, wood, metal etc.). The product surfaces are first sprayed with a specific adhesive, onto which the ultra-light fibres, called flock are deposited and correctly orientated using an electrostatic field.
Flocked articles and products therefore acquire the traditional appeal of velvet, which conveys a sense of opulence, luxury and prestige. The velvet finishing processes also convey functional advantages and are increasingly being used in a variety of industrial sectors.
